You're sabotaging your content 😩
Painful but fixable!
Most of you don’t have a content problem.
You have a self-inflicted editing problem.
We pulled patterns from every Post Roast call this month and lined them up side by side.
Here’s what actually mattered 👇
🚫 Mistake #1: You’re stacking hooks like TikTok owes you attention
We saw this over and over:
➡️ Hook sentence
➡️ Another hook
➡️ A third hook “just in case”
➡️ THEN the story starts 😵💫
By the time the video gets good, retention is already dead.
🛠️ Fix:
Pick ONE hook.
Kill the rest.
🚫 Mistake #2: You’re demo-ing past the retention graph
Multiple videos on the call were already making sales…
…but still had 30–40 seconds of unnecessary talking after the point people stopped watching.
🤔 Creators assume: “More explanation = more trust”
✅ TikTok reality: “Longer = I’m gone”
🛠️ Fix:
Check where 50% of viewers drop.
Everything after that is optional — and probably cuttable. ✂️
🚫 Mistake #3: You’re leading with the product instead of curiosity
Some of the top-earning videos shown didn’t reveal the product until halfway through.
Why?
Because once viewers know what you’re selling, they decide if they care.
Most of the time… they don’t. 🤷♀️
🛠️ Fix:
Let the viewer get emotionally invested first.
Confusion ➡️ curiosity ➡️ clarity ➡️ product
Not the other way around.
🚫 Mistake #4: You’re killing trust with “this is my favorite”
This line came up so much it became a running joke on the calls 😭:
🫣 “I love this.”
🫣 “This is my favorite.”
🫣 “I’m obsessed.”
Nobody believes it anymore.
Even when the product is good.
🛠️ Fix:
Stop talking about how you feel.
Start talking about what changes for them.
Value over validation.
Always.
📌 What actually worked (and kept showing up)
🟢 Videos making GMV with low engagement
Likes don’t equal sales. Watch time does.
🟢 Low-energy / whispery delivery
Not every product wants hype. Some niches convert better with calm, confident tone.
🟢 Messy, weird, visually active openings
Stretchy gummies. Water spraying. Scooping powder. Shaking things.
Movement buys you seconds. Seconds buy you sales.
🟢 Skits + half-heard conversations
Speakerphone calls, off-camera dialogue, “are we allowed to hear this?” moments.
Instant realism. Instant retention.
👉 Your assignment (don’t skip this)
Take one video you’ve already posted and remake it with ONE rule:
If someone watches this on mute, would they still stay?
If not, don’t rewrite the script.
Fix the visual first.
That’s the difference between creators who submit once…
and creators who keep getting paid inside BMC Max.
