A lot of times we overthink hooks… trying to say too much or do too little.

And maybe that’s because we’ve all seen way too many tutorials or read a million “perfect hook” guides.

But to be honest it’s not THAT HARD.

In our recent call inside The Academy 2.0, Alyssa one of our coaches shared some serious gems about creating killer TikTok hooks.

Check these out:

1. Tease it, don’t tell it:

Want attention? Get weird. Think about what will make people pause and think, “Wait, what?!”

Alyssa’s example, “I hate onions, but I rub them on my head,” works because it’s bizarre yet intriguing.

Another one: “I hate this thing, but I use it everyday. Here’s why…”

(The key is to pick something unique about your product and frame it in a way that demands attention.)

2. Show results early:

Got dramatic before-and-after transformations? Lead with them. It’s what keeps viewers hooked. People want to see the payoff upfront.

(Tip: Start with the end result and then show how you got there.)

3. High ENERGY, no fluff:

The first 3-5 seconds should be action-packed.

Fast cuts, bold visuals, and no distractions.

4. Keep it focused:

Don’t clutter your videos with other brands or random props. No other brands, no unrelated props, just your product.

Do: Show a clean workspace and just the product in use.

Don’t: Include other brand logos, cluttered backgrounds, or off-topic visuals.

In your next videos, try this:

Go bold. Be unexpected. Create something that makes people stop scrolling and need to watch more.
